Update
This maintenance window is also being combined with an update to SBCs to handle an issue with automatic failover. When a single link is lost to a datacenter, the system is supposed to automatically failover to alternate nodes. However, we have identified a scenario where, during network degradation, an active TCP connection which does not get a valid message that it has closed can cause our SBC to hang, even if it should otherwise be un-impacted by a remote zone having network issues. This can cause a cascading failure.

Thus, we are modifying this maintenance to include a restart of our SBC for both a certificate update AND a version update which contains a patch for the automatic failover. The lack of automatic failover is the root cause of a service disruption that occurred on Thursday, February 22nd at 5:00am PT. This update should fix this issue.

Please ensure that your devices are using NAPTR/SRV records to ensure no downtime during this event.

Scheduled
We will be performing rolling restarts of our Session Border Controllers (SBCs) during this maintenance window to update the SSL certificate for each zone. Phones are configured to fail over to other zones automatically using DNS NAPTR/SRV so there should be no downtime during this maintenance.

Thank you,
